I’m planning to have either the band or the sleeve and would love to hear back from people who had either of these and your thoughts? Did you have success? Did you have complications? How much weight loss and how long?

I am 2 1/2 years out and down 100 pounds. Gained about ten pounds back due to gym activities and muscle weight. It is the best thing for you assuming you meet the criteria. Get excercising as soon as you can and stick with it. You will never loose the loose skin aonit is what it is. Protein protein and protein. Drink you Water.

If you are worried about looses skin you can always have plastics. Some insurance company help cover if you have documented rashes or mobility issues. I was 45 yrs day of surgery (now 50yrs). I just wanted to have my health back. There are far worse things in life besides loose skin.

Prepare yourself look up photos for worst case and best case scenarios.

My loose skin is livable for me. Photo below.

I had VGS surgery and have no regrets at all. I've had no negative side effects, no dumping, no Hair loss so far, and I feel great. People say they wish they had had it sooner, but I wasn't ready sooner. I needed to have a few close friends have the procedure and have it be successful for them. And if I hadn't waited, I may not have gotten my awesome surgery who was able to do the procedure all through a single incision in my belly button.

My old workout buddy had a band and I asked her if she would do it again and she said "no" so...

I am 5 days post-op sleeve. I was originally approved 1 year ago and cancelled surgery about 3xs for various reasons (fear, wanting lose weight on my own, timing at work, etc). Hwevr, I attended many free support group meetings facilitated by the program RD offered by my hospital so that I could get first hand knowledge and learn tips and strategies. This helped sooo much!

The 1st couple of days in the hospital post-op was a little rough, but nothing unbearable. I also had a haitial hernia that I was unaware of that my surgeon repaired during the surgery, which Ive learned is very common for wls patients.

Since coming home, I have had a lot of diarrhea, but Ive learned that many sugar-free things, including a couple of the bariatric Vitamins have sugar alcohols (sorbital, sucralose, etc) that does not agree with my system. Im in the full-liquid stage til next week and today was the first day w/out diarrhea bec my RD said to start full-liquids and include hot cereals and yogurt (cream of wheat, grits, etc), which stopped it completely.

I know im a post-op newbie but I have no regrets at all so far. Physically, my knees no longer hurt and I already have a diff kind of energy than before surgery that is a great feeling. I have no desire for sweets or fried foods or anything unhealthy. It may be bec im still sore and jst trying to get all of my basic Proteins and fluids in, but I feel much better knowing that im finally on the other side of my wl journey [emoji4]

It's there. Tummy, bat wings, inner thighs, boobs, and butt. It's covered by clothing. Only seen by me. my husband, and the occasional Dr.

The surgery won't cure food addiction. I highly recommend you see a therapist for that before you have the surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
