I had RNY on 2/5. I only had to take PPIs for 4 weeks. No issues since stopping it 4 weeks ago. Prior to surgery I took my pantoprazole daily and still had break through indigestion.

I hope it gets better for you.

Thanks for all the responses on this so far. I was on pantoprazole for about 10 years prior to the bypass and was also told I could stop taking it after 4 weeks or so. I was told to take it after surgery to ensure that I would not get an ulcer. I am going to have to call my doctor on this one. I want to get rid of GERD for life!

Had a really bad first experience of dumping. Now I totally get the comments that it feels like dying. I may not have read far back enough for similar triggers but I’m pretty sure it was because I ate about a cup and half of salad (split into two meals, 2/3 for lunch and 2/3 for dinner) since I didn't eat anything too sugary or high in fat? The dressing was a vinaigrette? When will salad be ok if ever? This is postop week 6 plus 3 days.

9 weeks out today. I'm down 4 pounds this week. This is the most weight loss I've had in a week since one-week post op. Upped the exercise a little bit. I use Baritastic to track what I'm eating. I'm only focused on getting in at least 70 grams of Protein, but I'm finding that I'm naturally getting about 650-750 calories per day by following this plan.

Sleeved- I’ve never heard of anyone dumping on greens. Did the dressing have sugars?

Congrats on the great week Paula! I’m trying to get there myself. Tweaking a bit right now to see if I can find my “sweet spot”. It’s such a mental game because I don’t want to waste a week tweaking in the wrong direction, but I can’t figure it out without trying different things. Where are your carbs landing right now?

Yeah!!!! This morning I weighed and the numbers finally moved. 200 even! Next time I weigh I should be in the “ONE HUNDREDS” I am so excited and so far it is the happiest 2.5 pounds I have ever lost! 👏👏😁

Some but I don’t think more than 2-3 grams since it was a small amount of salad and even less dressing needed. I am supposed to stick a soft diet so I just assumed it was the salad. Nothing else out of daily norm-2 Protein Shakes and chicken but yesterday chicken was in my salad. Like Sheri, the scale doesn’t move for me much but I’m glad my clothes are looser or I’d be depressed. Hit my minimum 10K steps goal well enough too. Dora/Ellen’s ‘Just keep swimming’ chants all day long.

Amazing work on the scale and in the kitchen guys!
After weighing only and not measuring on Monday, I hopped on the scale and did a measure this morning.
I’ve lost from 208.4 to 207.0 since Monday and since I last measured 11 days ago, my waist, hips, and lower abs are all down 0.5 inches each. My under-arm measurement (the only way I know of to measure back fat) was down 3/4 inch and my bustline stayed the same.
It’s gonna be a helluva race to see if I can hit below 200 before May hits, but I’m trying my best to make it happen.
Here is an example of what a typical dinner looks like for me. Dinner is my largest meal of the day because my sleeve is so danged tight earlier in the day.
Didn’t take an after shot with half the avocado left because the cottage cheese got all over the place and it looked really messy.
I did repurpose the other quarter of the avocado and mashed it in with a pouch of tuna for lunch today.

Now I'm super afraid to try salad! What were the symptoms of your reaction/dumping?

And for me salad was the most refreshing delicious thing I have eaten. I just had it this week for the first time. We are all so different so I guess until we try things we’re not going to know. But I am so thankful that for me so far I haven’t been sick at all. I have had a couple of incidents where my food felt stuck which is very painful. I hope it goes better for you soon.

I’d hate to be too specific but the southern dumping for me was painful stomach cramping that is very similar to when you have a stomach bug/really have to go but are stuck in traffic kind of misery. I was sweating bullets, in tears at some points and needed to stay near my bathroom to on safe side rest of the evening. Since surgery, I’ve only experience vomiting dumping once after eating baked mahi mahi tuna. I barely could vomit and there was dry heaving but I’d take that over the other end any day. Forgive me Feb buddies if my description is too graphic. I’m really worried I won’t be able to enjoy my favorites (Alaska raised) like halibut or copper river red salmon😩.....too afraid to even try any fish at this point and now I’m going to add salad to the “forbidden” list. At least until 3 full months postop.

Thank you!!! Stuck is the right way to describe my evening full of abdominal cramping. Yes, stuck. I really really hope postop 3 months that my tummy is stronger.

Seems like I’ve got some minor ulcer symptoms. The last couple weeks I’ve felt a dull ache under my sternum intermittently. It would get worse on days when I didn’t eat regularly. I decided to take my Zegerid to see if that helped... sure enough no pain nearly immediate relief. Logical explication is some ulceration being irritated by the minimal amount of stomach acid in the pouch, which is exasperated if I don’t eat. I was initially worried it could be gall stones.... anyways I’ve got a follow up with the surgeon Monday, and will run it all by him to make sure no additional precautions are necessary. Figured I’d fill you guys in.... I feel great, gym time has been amazing, and couldn’t b happier.

I just went to the nutritionist yesterday for 8 week post op. In my program I cna now begin veggies. They suggest cooked initally then a few dyas later try that vegetable raw. She said lettuce esp. ice berg is the last thing to try. I guess the strings in it cna cause issues. She also siad that can happen with celery and asparagus. I had cooked spinach without issue but I wont tyr it raw for a few more weeks. Was this the first time you had lettuce?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
