Almost 9 months out, I think I fucked up.

Recommended Posts

The eating part at least. I still had a lot of bad habits post-surgery that I never sought help for. Oftentimes I don't stop eating until I'm satisfied, but until I'm full. I think this has resulted in my stomach stretching quite a bit, because I was astonished today when I found myself able to eat 3 whole sandwhiches with scrambled egg. I am fairly certain someone who's 9 months post-op shouldn't be able to eat that.

Despite this, I'm still 54kg (120lbs) down, but I know that if I don't fix these bad habits, I will start gaining weight again sooner or later. I feel like an enormous loser now, but I want to turn my eating habits around once again.. I just don't know where to start. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

Not sure what the post care service is for you, but I’d go back to the tea and seek some help and referrals.

prior to my surgery I did hypothearpy, this was helpful for me. I also keep a diary of my moods and what I eat. This helps with the emotional eating, although I do still have some old habits, that I’m continuing to work on. My other thing is to brush my teeth after I’ve eaten and sip on Water til my next meal time.

i wish you well, let me know how you go

I found a therapist that specializes in weight issues. It really has been helpful. I go to (roughly) weekly group sessions that focus on the mental issues with weight loss and meet with her once a month. It has really helped me get my mind around some of the issues that led me to gain. Good luck

Before my surgery my therapist recommended a book called The Emotional First-Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Live after Bariatric Surgery. It's a great book and perhaps you can find answers to he'll you move forward.

Let me ask a serious question: why 3 whole sandwiches with scrambled eggs instead of triple the eggs on one sandwich?

I would suggest meeting with your team soon to form strategies.

Safe Journey 🎈

*Waves to Vox* A Dutchie here too :D
I'd say just get back to your old plan, I am in no way a veteran, but as long as you don't gain, you are good. Cut back a little on the portion size, maybe cut down carbs and up the Protein?
Hugs, happy new year, make it the best one yet!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
