Lap-Band in Upstate NY

Recommended Posts

I would ask that question when you go for your informational meeting tomorrow. I was one who was always at my dr.'s frustrated with my weight loss attempts, so I had good documentation. I have heard of people that just document their weight loss attempts and get their dr's signature on it. It all goes to your ins. company for approval, thats what they want it for. They are also interested in your BMI being over a certain # and any co-morbitity issues you might be dealing with. I would think that any ins. co. would look at those 2 things with more importance than any weight loss attempt over a 13 year period. Although it is important (don't get me wrong) it is not all there is to this process of getting approval for the surgery. Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted.

Carol

Good for you!! Dr. D. is incredible, I had my band last month, had a couple of problems, and he has been there every second!! You will not be penalized because you didnt tell your MD about all diet attempts. Just write down what you have done on your own. They will walk you through the process. You couldn't have chosen a better surgeon

I went to the seminar March 12th and was even more excited then before I went. I think I am really going to like Dr. D and I made my 1st appointment for April 2nd, so I can't wait to get started on this journey. I have been the fat kid in class since 2nd grade, and I am 30 now, so thats why I am so looking foward to this.

Hi All

It really has been quite a while since I have checked in. I hope everyone is doing well. It looks like a few new people have joined since I have last been here.

I continue to lose at a very slow rate now, about 1 lb a month, but at least it is heading in the right direction!

I have pushed off my fills a few times as I still have restriction. As of last week, I am down 70lbs since starting this journey about a year ago and 59 lbs since surgery!

I love my band!

I have too, this has been a long time coming. I had surgery 4 wks ago my progress a little slow..I'm not the average bandster apparently. Dr. D. is going to ask for commitment and in return he will be by your side through the whole process. I know you will be happy you chose him. Let me know if you have any questions, I can help..Good Luck!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
