So, is a stall when you lose absolutely NO weight in a certain period of time... or could it be if you only lose, say, 2lbs in 2 weeks? How do you know you've hit a stall? Is it just a period of very slowed weight loss or none whatsoever? How many days of no weight loss do you wait before you say "hey, I hit a stall"?

I've been gaining and losing the same 2 lbs for 2 weeks. For me this is a stall

@mousecat88

yes, i believe that if you don't lose any weight for 3 weeks+, that is considered a stall.

some OP might say they haven't lost any weight for (1) one week, (2) weeks - not a stall.

there is the dreaded common stall at 3 week

stalls happen to most OP - very common,- this too will pass☺️

keep up the good work while your weight goes down!!

@AJP

your 2 lbs up and down - is not considered a stall - bad luck, but not a stall!!😉

For me, when I stalled right after surgery, it lasted for a little over 2 weeks. My weight didn't go up, it didn't go down - it stayed exactly where it was. 255.5. Funny cause I also temporarily got stuck pre op at 266.6 🤷🏻‍♀️

I never could consider it a "stall" maybe I think in a less complicated manner, maybe a little naive, but I prefer "pause" . Your body is recouping itself before it starts a renewed amount of loss. It is going to come, stop and be proud,of all you have accomplished thus far. Be proud of your body for what it can do, not constantly berate it for its imagined sins. Not only you emotionally,but your body physically just underwent major surgery. Give yourself a hug and be grateful for what has improved for,you.😝🏡🌸🌺☀

In the strictest sense per Dr. Atkins, a stall is considered to be 3 weeks with no move on the scale or measuring tape. The second is as important as the first...

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
