Having trouble with eating

Recommended Posts

Hello , Im new here . Been using Baritastic app for a while . I'm post op gastric sleeve ; done on 10/9/18 ; I try to eat home baked fries , or green bean and Tomato salad , triple zero yogurt , scrambled egg , chicken tenders . Not all at once , but those are some things I eat . Problem is ? They sometimes stay down ? Other times they don't . I have trouble feeling full sometimes even now . I chew 20 times , even eat with left hand to slow down my eating . How do you guys know how much you can tolerate portion size wise ? Thank You [emoji16]

It took me a while, but eventually I learned how my body says "enough" now...I get this tight/full sensation in my chest. The old feeling of fullness pre-op just doesn't happen anymore.

Everyone's signal is different, some get runny noses, sneeze, get the hiccups, etc...

Also I portion out what I plan to eat, and take 2 bites at a time. I put my fork down for at least 10 minutes before the next two bites. If my chest says "no thanks", I wait another 10 minutes. If its still tight, then meal is over.

I've learned to listen to my chest because in the past when I didn't, I would feel crappy for an hour or barf up all my hard work of eating (which irritated me to no end!).

(Though right now I'm going through a not-wanting-to-eat-at-all phase. Once its over, I'll go back to the eating strategy above).

ms.sleeve :

Thank You for that . I never thought of that eating stradegy . I will start paying attention to find " that que" that my body sends . I was taught to eat , clean my plate and hurry up . I was excited to get the sleeve ; but I didn't realize that portion size would be so difficult . Thank You for your advice and good luck in your journey dear . 😁

I measure/weigh virtually everything. If I can't, I try to eat verrryyy slowly and usually know that 4-6 bites is the limit. I've eaten too fast just once and gotten sick. A few times a tiny bit too much and it is uncomfortable. Learning curve. But yeah... I try to pre-portion everything I can... I even eat out of measuring cups half the time. lol
