Like the CO2 make me sick and nauseous. I stop drinking sodas July 1st 2017. I have the gastric sleeve August 17th 2017, I tried drinking a ginger ale a couple times but it hurts my chest so I’ve avoided anything with the fizz in it, but I can tolerate sweets from time to time and it doesn’t make me sick. I’m in a support group where I live and some say the sugary candy makes them sick.

Which surgery did you do? From what I understand Bypass patients are more likely to have that problem. Even then though, it seems like a crap shoot and the dice land differently for everybody. I think you just got lucky/unlucky depending on how you feel about it.

You may still yet lose it. I've heard a lot of people say their tastes change and my nutritionist says that it often comes after a couple of months when the taste buds change. So try not to worry. Right now focus on Protein and Water. I've had a couple hard candies since surgery and they seem to sate my sweet tooth. Before surgery I'd need to down a half a batch of brownies to do it in. So, even if you do eat some sweets, maybe the new moderation will do the trick.

Yes. It doesn’t bother me either.

Unfortunately the onus is on us to follow a proper diet and exercise to continue to lose weight. Just like before surgery.

The good news is after losing a large amount of weight it’s easier to stay on track.

Yes it is up to us! Dang it 😂😂 my nutritionist said if I can do 7 weeks liquid diet pre op on my own ( phenomenal) I can do anything. This was my 3rd attempt at weight loss surgery so I was afraid I would wake up in recovery again and be the same me when I woke up. Now that I have the surgery, I have a hard time sometimes especially when I feel depressed but I’m working on it. I went from 610lbs July 1 to 575 August 17,2017 surgery day til now just 460. And I could be more but I haven’t exercised due to 2 herniated disks, bulging disk in my back and my knees are shot! But I’m no longer on my scooter and shop and do things that I could do before. So I know I don’t wanna go back! That’s not an option!

Woo Shawana, you're a freakin rock star. You've got this. No doubt in my mind.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
