How much sashimi/sushi can you eat?

Recommended Posts

I’m curious to know what a typical sushi/sashimi meal looks like for you post-sleeve. I had a cup of miso Soup and 4 pieces of sashimi - 2 salmon and 2 tuna. I feel satisfied. Before surgery I would eat soup, half a tempura appetizer, and one to two sushi rolls. Just curious to know what your portions of this meal looks like!

I’m so glad someone posted this. I LOVE sushi and wondering if anyone still ate it after being sleeved. I’m going to wait a couple more months to try it out though.

Not that they’re uniform size or anything, but I’m almost a year out and I can eat an entire small-diameter Philly roll. Before the surgery, I could eat that, plus an entire steak-and-chicken-and-shrimp teppanyaki meal, plus probably stop for a double cheeseburger and fries on the way home.

My dietitian would probably prefer I eat sushi or sashimi since they’re mostly/all Protein, but I just prefer rolls.

Ha! Trick question.

The answer is...dun dun dunnnnhhhhh....

NONE!

And ever since they found tapeworms in the Pacific Salmon population this year (a relatively new appearance in that food chain), I will never eat raw fish again. Evs....and it's heartbreaking.

I Love Sashimi and I make Poke as well....I was sleeved in July and no more than 2ounces nothing else with it and that's about it. Such an amazing source of Protein.

I'm 7 months out and can do an egg roll and 3-4 pieces of sushi before being full.

Four pieces is my max, which is really annoying when the vendors sell them in 8-packs. The office hyenas are pretty delighted.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
