I’m supposed to be on a 10 day post op starting yesterday but I keep cheating 🤦🏾‍♀️. 1 Toddler size portion/meal and nothing UNHEALTHY. I was put on a Protein Shake, broth, coffee and popsicles pretty much diet. How are u guys staying committed ? What does you’re preop consist of?
I feel defeated. :/

I had 14 days of Protein Drinks and 1 meal of 4oz lean Protein and 1 cup of non-starchy veggies. The purpose was to shrink my liver to make surgery easier. I’ll be honest, the first 2 days were tough but it got easier as I went along. So what have you been cheating with? Can you try to follow the diet for 2 days? I think if you do that you will see it IS doable!! (FYI - my highest weight was 365 and surgery weight was 327. If I can do it - you can too!!)

Yes..you must shrink the liver or they might not complete the surgery..but I'm sure you know that. I'm on straight Optifast and 4 cups of low starch veg per day..I'm hungry a lot of the time but we're so close...don't loose the momentum now! You're almost there...🙂

See, if like you were able to eat actual foods. HEALTHY foods. I think I would have done better on your pre-op diet. Hehe
I will try my best from here and on to stick to the diet.

Do not worry or beat yourself up, cheats happen, just do your best to stay on plan. Not all pre-op diets are the same and most are not "set in stone" if you are having issues, reach out to your team and ask them if you can change things a bit to help you stay on task. Most teams would rather make small changes to keep you focused than not and risk having you go totally off the plan. it's hard, but it does make things easier post-op. Keep focused on why you want the surgery, keep that in mind at all times, it'll help you when you are feeling defeated. You have not lost until you give up.

I'm nervous for the 2 week pre opt diet to shrink my liver. I know I have to do it. I don't want to go through all this to not be able to have the surgery.

I’ve been trying the recommended program my team says I will eventually be on after surgery. 60g or more lean Protein, 50g net carbs and like 60g of fat. I’m focusing on the protein and carbs. It’s really helped me see what has hidden sugars and carbs. I try to cut out sugar but have had my screw it moments but always try to go right back to the program. I’m hoping by doing this I will have a head start on pre op diet of Liquid Protein.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
