Your go to soft food phase recipe

Recommended Posts

I’m currently heading into my 7th week post op and still on soft foods. I have found myself in a major rut. Eating the same thing everyday that’s been easy on my pouch. But I need to branch out. So what’s your favorite soft food meal?

Ok, so on softs/mushies, one of the things I loved was cooking chicken until tender in foil (or picking up Roti chickie and pulling it. Then chopping it very fine) and mixing with canned green Beans, and making the recipe for TG green bean casserole using the fat free cream of mushroom Soup. I would make it very soupy and leave off the onions--I'd just add extra onion powder and extra granulated garlic. Dang! Now I want some of that! :D

I also had pot roast in the freezer that had been cooked to deat, that I minced, ate with very well cooked broccoli or green beans or mashed cauli with extra brown beef gravy from a jar. LOL. Yeah...I ate gravy from the jar. Easy to do when you eat 1/4cup! LOL.

I love white bean chili made with ground chicken,

Also, broccoli-cheese Soup, chicken enchilada soup, tuna or chicken salad

Good luck! You can have a lot of variety at this stage!

I made myself a lot of home made Soup and tossed soft stuff in there. chicken broth + some egg, some tiny chicken bits, ham bits, potato, etc. Also some cooked pumpkin.. that was a nice change of pace.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
