Breast reduction surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering who out there has had breast reduction surgery after losing some weight. I was originally referred a couple of years ago but the surgeon wouldn't touch me with a 10-foot pole since my BMI was 55 at the time. She wanted me to get my BMI down to around 40 before she would consider me for surgery. Well, fast forward 2 years and my BMI is now 44 and dropping and I would really like to pursue this before the end of the year (as my insurance deductible has already been met for the year). Has anyone else had the surgery before hitting goal? Any before and after pictures to share (with clothing on)? I am really excited to possibly be able to get this done soon...my boobs have been deflated balloons since I was in high school!

I waited for 6 months after hitting & maintaining goal weight before having a breast lift. It was a long wait, but I think it was worth it. I mean, I already had awful boobs for my whole life, what's a few more months? I wanted my body to be stable before dropping lots of money on altering it again.

In clothes, my before and after pics are the same.

In my opinion, you could use this time to really research plastic surgeons and interview them. I saw 7 cosmetic surgeons before I chose. Find before and after pics of others patients who have had the surgery; save the ones you think are ideal AND the pics you think look terrible. These will help your doctor.

How exciting for you! Congratulations on losing weight!

I'd say it depends on how you lose weight. I had my reduction a long time ago and my dr didn't require me to lose weight, but I also had enough weight loss history to know that I lose weight in my boobs LAST. My roommate after college on the other hand had 4 different bra sizes in her drawer because she lost and gained weight there first. If you aren't sure I'd wait a little longer and let things stabilize. Totally worth it though!! No regrets about having my reduction in my 20's and if the girls start dragging I would totally get a lift again.

I wish the surgeons would have a special rate for turning tennisball in tube sock syndrome into something a little perkie. I'd like to a hand full from the cloth waitresses wipe tables off with. Cracks me up sometimes, the guys are over crowing about extra inches in their package on their forum, we only wish someone had a sale on seat belt retractors so we could roll ours up to stuff in a bra. Ain't fair Magee, ain't fair!😪

I'd second the waiting. my moobs have shrunk up more than I expected they would! Best to wait until you've been at a stable weight for a good 6 months or so before going and getting things reduced, wouldn't it suck to get the reduction, then have your skin retract even more and then your newly constructed chest is pointing towards the sky!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
