Tricare and Revision to Sleeve

TRICARE AND REVISION OR BYPASS SURGERY

I'm quite certain this topic in reference to Tricare has been discussed a thousand times but I just can't find the answers I need. When I lived on post in Washington State on Ft. Lewis, I was able to get the Sleeve done. My surgeon assured me if this surgery did not work that in a couple or so years I could get the Gastric Bypass or I may need a revision some day. TRICARE or the surgeons here in Columbus, GA disagree and will not do either because my BMI is NOT at 40 plus. I assume I would have to gain more weight to do so. I'm at a 33 BMI now and no doctors can figure out why I'm gaining any weight at all. I eat healthy and I exercise every single day and I have since the surgery. I just stopped losing one day and it's been a steady incline since the middle of 2014 or later even. There's no explanation and breaking my elbows to keep me from putting a fork in my mouth might hurt and I would starve to death from malnutrition because I eat like a bird now. I need some help here because I have nothing. The surgeons are clueless and say no and my doc is clueless in saying the surgeons say no I'm NOT FAT ENOUGH. I'm fat and I hate myself. HELP!! Suggestions!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
