Doctors on Long Island

Recommended Posts

I am making the steps towards having the surgery but my main concern is finding a qualified, and reputable doctor in my area. I live on Long Island (Suffolk county) so if anyone know of any doctors that they have used please let me know.

Thanks

The guy at Northshore LI Jewish Hospital, Dr. Geiss I think, has done almost 2000 of them.

That's funny do you have any kids in the commack schools? I have one at woodpark and one at middle school. How are you doing with the band?

my three children graduated from Commack High School. Wonderful school system. I know that the lap band has been the best thing in the world for both myself and my husband. After years of struggling with weight loss and weight gain etc. This has been a good journey. Some days are harder than others but we support each other and that certainly helps. good luck on your journey - contact me any time.

I would think that it would be what your insurance wants more so then the Doctor. I know most now want notes from a 6/mo Doctor Diet.

NYBG is awesome! You should realy check malpractice of Dr.s. Dr. Holover has no history and is healthgrade reccommende 5 star dr. None of the others are including Dr. Garber . I actually like dr. garber because he answers his email and was on top of things in the hospital but Dr. Holover actually did my surgery. As far as the office goes, it's like any other dr.'s office. I have never had a problem getting a fill and it does not hurt at all. As far as making you sign a paper that the fill costs $250, they also make you sign a contract you won't eat ice cream and excersize 3x's a week. It's a business they want to be paid they are making a fortune off us. I was lucky my insurance covers fills, I still eat ice cream occassionally and no contract is going to stop me. I do excersize because it's the only way to get good results not because they made me sign a contract. This is about you and for you I spent a year researching dr.s I went with dr. holover because I thought he was the best available who took my insurance and did SILS. I was not crazy about his personality in the office. I thought he was kind of arrogant bragging about how he's the best. However, he was really great to me in the hospital and after the surgery. I would never consider another dr.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
