how many people never need a fill?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if just having the band resting against the stomach is enough? I am sure I still have some swelling because I'm not quite 5 weeks yet.

You know I was thinking the same thing. I have seen a surgery video and I think the band itself could give you some restriction.

Fluid was put in my band during surgery, but I was not very comfortable. On day 7 post op had it all completely removed (4.2cc) The surgeon had said my stomach wasn't very large and it was loose but I guess with post op swelling, it was just too tight. Healing up nicely now, but still don't need a fill- it is so strange. Everyone is starving before getting their fills- I keep waiting...

I am 3 months out today and I haven't had my first fill yet. I know that I could use one. I am not gaining weight but I am not feeling as satisfied, but I think that is a pretty long time. I go next tuesday for my first fill.

I'm 7 weeks post op now. I have an apt on Tuesday for a fill but I'm not sure I'll need one. I have been able to eat about 1500 calories per day lately. I could probably eat a bit more at times. But it is that time of the month and I am at my idea of perfect restriction since yesterday. I am eating 1200 cals per day and am satisfied. I can get stuck if not careful as well. My dilemma: if I get a fill, will I be too tight this time next month? If I don't get a fill, will I be too loose in between times?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
