No fluid in band for about a year, all of a sudden I'm having difficulty eating and even drinking, vomitting with small amounts of food. Cant get much down, has anyone else ever had this problem?

I had so many problems with the lab band. Placed 5 years ago, after about 1 year I had a second surgery because the first bad had a leak. I was never at a place where i could eat comfortably. I was vomiting at every meal so I lost very little weight. One night all all of a sudden I couldn't swallow my own spit! I was miserable so I went to the emergency room. They had a very difficult time accessing my port, I was stuck about 20 times before they found the correct place to aspirate the Fluid. After all the fluid was aspirated I just never had it filled again. I didn't want to go through all that pain ever again. Even with all the fluid out I still had some restriction, But now I feel like MY band is overfilled and I know thats not possible. HELP!

Have you gone back to your surgeon? I'd want my band checked for slippage or other problems. Something appears wrong.

Sorry to hear this, tifme. This happened to me. I had my surgery in 2011 and about a year ago after not getting a fill for a year, all of a sudden I was getting stuck and getting "slime bubbles" and having horrible acid reflux. After a few visits to my lap-band doctor (not my original surgery doctor), he said it was the type of band I have (the REALIZE band) and that most patients he has seen with this type of band are having it removed. Ugh. I had my band completely let out about 6 months ago and miss the restriction but I think I am going to have it removed. After consulting with the doctors and with my husband, this may be the better move for me with all the issues I had with the band. I'm sad but excited about what lies ahead. Wishing you all the best.

I’m going through something similar right now. My band has been empty for a long time and recently I’ve felt pain and restriction. I had it checked today and it has slipped and will require surgery to fix or remove it. Definitely get it checked out. Hope you feel better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
