Food funerals are not fun

Recommended Posts

Preop here guys. I’ve made a huge mistake. I had my last weigh in, got my surgery date and insurance approved it. Then I went a little nuts this week. I’ve had onion rings, greasy sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, sugary cocktails, root beer, pizza, chicken strips, ice cream..... and right now I’m paying for it. My stomach hurts. My body is saying “WTF are you doing?! Why would you stop eating this crap for 6 months only to turn around and binge on it?”

I hope I remember how this feels a week, a month, a year from now. That crap food and sugar was not worth it.

Sometimes you've just gotta get it out of your system. But, my goodness, you were enthusiastic! Hope you feel better soon.

A little Masonic, maybe some Tums, but most important a resolve that this kind of sin against yourself, and did you notice. those onions rings and ice cream isn't suffering, but you are?
Say KCGirl WE ARE NOT GOING THERE AGAIN and hold yourself to the promise. This proves your stomach was willing to stay "in training" even if your mind was weak. You(and me also) have come so far, neither of us wants to turn back to blimpdom-Forward to the finish! Do you agree? Good because I'm marching right along side and we can be strong together! Surgery Ho the Wagons!🙆& 🙆

You're not the only one that's done this... most of us have. Now, get back on track and meet us on the loser's bench.

I've been there too. Currently on the second day of my liquid diet. I feel like the food funerals were a learning experience for me. Like you, I got sick and didn't feel pleasant afterwards. I just thought to myself "Was eating whatever I craved worth it?" and I can always say no. Now while I'm doing this liquid diet and wanting to cheat I just remember how sick that my last binge made me.

Don't worry, you'll get on track again. Just learn from this and use it to your advantage.

Wish I could go back to my food funeral and eat even MORE! I’m a month plus out on my bypass and I can barely eat 300-500 cals a day and I deff can’t eat the stuff I love but that’s the plan. 30+lbs down in a month

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
