Ouch! Recovery sucks.

Recommended Posts

This is my third day in the hospital. First day was surgery, apparently everything went well. I didn't need a catheter or a drain or anything else.

However, on the second day, threw up various pain medicines all day long. They finally just took me off the pain meds because I feel better without them. (I felt so terrible, I was genuinely regretting my decision to have surgery for a few hours there. Nausea is the woooorst.)

It's the third day now, I just woke up from a fairly deep sleep -- slept a solid nine hours, I think. That's good, right? My stomach still hurts, and I'm still nauseous, but feel better than yesterday for sure.

My doctor is going to visit, and I want to ask if I can get a picture with him before my discharge... wish I could get a picture with the whole team.

Anyway, I have officially joined the post-op ranks!! Nice to meet all of you.

Edit: It's still the second day. I slept like an hour, not nine hours. I thought it was 7am not 7pm. /cries

I’m sad that you’re having such a sucky recovery and they can’t get your nausea under control!! They need to get you some anti-nausea meds asap! Poor thing!! I hope things improve fast 😊 sending my thoughts and hugs!

Sorry to hear its been so rough. The first 24 hours after surgery were rough for me too but thankfully it got better quick. I used these nausea Patches immediately after surgery and they really worked. I had NO nausea. Maybe you could get some and try

I’m sorry you’re having so many issues. I’m also 3 days post op and I feel great. My doctor use the My ON-Q numbing pump for my wounds, Ondansetron ODY 4MG and scopolamine 1.5 patch for the nausea. I know it’s to late for the pump, but see if your doctor can give you the meds for the nausea.

I'm at home! No more nausea, really. I think it was the pain meds that were making me feel that way in the hospital. The problem now is that my belly hurts like hell every time I go to move around. /sigh

How long did everyone have fairly significant pain after the procedure? Surely it doesn't last two whole weeks?

My surgery was tues and I am just now feeling a little relief of stomach pain. The left side has been the worse. Yesterday I could barely get up and down and it hurt like crazy to even walk. It took me about 10 min to get out of my recliner when I woke up this morn. But right now I am doing much better. Hopefully tomorrow will be even easier.

Hope you get to feeling better soon and I know you are glad to be home.

I actually had the same experience vomiting my meds . But I’m now 5 days out and can handle swallowing them much better. But for some reason my throat is so sore. I was told it’s due to the breathing tube during surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
