Light headed and weak - normal?

Recommended Posts

I am 2.5 weeks post surgery. I am so light headed and shaky that I might pass out if I stand up. Is this normal? I did end up with a full midline incision due to complications.

I was light headed upon standing for a few weeks as well, given you had a much more invasive surgery with complications, this doesn't sound outside the realm of possibility. I assume you've discussed this with your PCP, Surgeon or Surgical team already... what did they say about it?

Light headedness is a sign of dehydration. Sip, sip, sip. Make sure you're getting all your fluids in.

Also...call your group. Better to be safe than sorry.

I never experienced light headedness or weakness. I would call your surgeon's office right away. Severe dehydration is nothing to mess around with. You could also have anemia or hypoglycemia...or a number other things going on. Best to get it checked out.

I felt the same way at 2 weeks post op. I got a B12 injection from my surgeon and within a day I was back to normal.

Not dehydrated. Treating low blood sugar and low blood pressure. My family doc took me off two BP meds. One of the benefits is BP improvement! Feeling a bit better today but had 4 bad bad days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
