Well the days are slowing rolling by as I wait for the big date and I have ran out of thinks to research. I really hope come Dec 3rd we can start leveraging everyones experiences starting with CarolK1 and the Parrot. This is going to be a great group to lean on because we will all have started near the same time and can succeed together. Here is what I am doing here lately.

Read this board nearly everyday because the wife is sick of hearing about the surgery and I need to turn somewhere.

Since I am a low BMI (35) I have eaten at every restaurant and my debit card looks like a who's who of fast food. I know this is not making the choir easier and I am not making excuses. I am a self pay so failure is not an option after Dec 18th.

Debating on who to tell and who not to tell. I have told my wife and my boss and that is it. I don't want the pressure on me if the weight doesn't just fall off and I have larger friends that have had the lap band and seem to take offense that I was even considering it since I am 282 and 6'3.

I am 3 weeks away and I find myself buying different exercise equipment (Bodybugg)and planning out my exercise attack plan. I just bought the perfect push up and have researched a rock climbing gym of all things.

Take cares and sorry for rambling but I am ready to get this on. Dr K in Colorado is paid up and everything seems to be ready to go. We are starting out as the Merry Losers but by next Christmas we will be the biggest losers. Who is with me?

Since I am a low BMI (35) I have eaten at every restaurant and my debit card looks like a who's who of fast food. I know this is not making the choir easier and I am not making excuses.

I can relate to this. As I mentioned elsewhere, when I found out I had to do a 10-day pre-op diet, I scheduled my surgery for 12 days after Thanksgiving. Might as well go out with a bang, you know? I made a mental list of foods and checked them off one by one as if I was saying goodbye to friends. pizza? Check. Fajitas? Check. Taco Ball? Check, check, check.

Debating on who to tell and who not to tell. I have told my wife and my boss and that is it. I don't want the pressure on me if the weight doesn't just fall off and I have larger friends that have had the lap band and seem to take offense that I was even considering it since I am 282 and 6'3.

I can also relate to this. I kept everything a secret for as long as possible. Up until last week my wife was the only one who knew, but I finally had to spill the Beans and let my parents and immediate co-workers know. Let's face it, I'm 6' and 388 pounds. I expect to attack weight loss with a vengeance; when I start dropping weight, people are going to notice so I decided to go ahead and let the news 'slip' on my own terms. I think it is different for us men than it is for women. I don't mean to generalize but all the women I know at work who have had the surgery have announced it to the world. They are all supportive of each other. Maybe it is more embarassing for men or something. (I think this is going to be the subject of tomorrow's blog.)

Right now I am in the middle. While I did let those co-workers know, I did register here under a fake name so I'm still a little 'in the closet' so to speak.

I have my surgery on December 6th! :whoo:I can't wait. Start 10 day liquid pre-op diet on Tuesday. During my preop visit my doc said there is a filter called the tulip to prevent a pulmonary embolism. Has anyone had this and if so how did it work out? Was it removed after a few weeks or did you leave it in indefinitely? He said it was optional but all his patients go home on Lovenox x 10 days? Good luck to everyone! :gluck:gg88

Debating on who to tell and who not to tell.

I told my husband, my mom and one friend (she's overweight and considering lapband). I told my boss I needed to take some time off for surgery. I left it that it was female stuff, he didn't want any further info....:heh: I don't need to put any extra pressure on myself by having people ask questions and constantly looking for updates. 6 weeks after surgery I'm headed on a 7 night cruise. I'm looking forward to the cruise, but I'm nervous already that I won't be able to control myself....

Tomorrow starts pre-op, or (how I'm tyring to look at this) - as the start of my new healthier lifestyle...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!
