Weight issues after 6 months post op

Recommended Posts

If possible I would try swimming for exercise for a while. This is a great low impact exercise and easy on the back and knees if done right.

I am not sure I agree about not weighing every day. There is pretty convincing research out there showing daily weighing is strongly correlated with weight reduction and, more importantly, keeping weight off. If you weigh daily, then you know you only ever face a 1 or 2 day ‘diet’ in future, not a month or two as weigh gain got a bit out of control...

But I reckon different strokes for different folks. Some focus on the numbers, some on the waistband snugness!

Everyone is different. I weigh everyday. Rarely do I skip a day. It has been a routine for ages and keeps me accountable.
Some folks can’t handle it. I get that.

I am 14 months out and I weigh myself daily right before I shower. It keeps me on track. It is easier to lose 1 or 2 pounds than 5 or ten. I haven't work this hard to ever go back. Everyone is different, do what is best for you

How fast are we supposed to lose weight? Following my diet, walking 2 miles a day. Losing inches but scale doesn't seem to move. I am 3 weeks post op gastric sleeve. So discouraged.

“Losing inches...”
That’s HUGE!!! If not losing one or the other, you worry. If at least one is dropping off, you are so winning!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
