As much as I know they are processed cr*p food, I miss crispy so much!

Have you tried 34 Degree crackers? I love them with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese. 4 crackers and 1 wedge is 57 calories.

They make these natural cheese crisps out of 100% dehydrated cheese. You might want to check those out.

I have Snacks, usually at night. I can't hit my Protein goals without them (just not able to eat enough at meals). My snacks tend to be protein oriented. Some examples: Deli turkey and pepperoni wraps, light string cheese, light cottage cheese, greek yogurt, sometimes I repeat a meal, beef Jerky, almonds. If I do carbs I try to limit it to one thing and eat it after I eat something dense like deli turkey so it doesn't "slide" through. For me carb snacks might be: PBJ (only if I ran a few miles because its high calorie), 1 oz of chips / pretzels / crackers, cheese and crackers, hummus and carrots, oatmeal (only on work out days).

@AshAsh1 I agree. A type I is so much different than type II, and unless you are educated or are a type I, you cannot approach this disease casually. I have two (now grown) type I children and even they have unique circumstances, my daughter can bottom out very quickly, and the tighter your control the easier/faster a low bs can happen - my son does not react the same way she does. Other hormones greatly affect the insulin hormone, as can vigorous exercise, lack of sleep, etc. It is not just a matter of eating.

I've bought these before. The entire bag (large size from Sam's) disappeared almost instantaneously. I forgot to hide it and write "MOM" in big, bold Sharpie letters! I feel guilty "hoarding" food, but with 3 sons, ages 22-24 in the house, if it's not hidden, it's gone!

OH GOODNESS I didn't mean to spark such a Diabetes uproar. OK I am diabetic I am 52 year old female who has been diabetic since I was 40. Since the Surgery ( 1 month ago ) I have been able to reduce by Insulin to less than 40 units a day ( from over 180 prior ). I was asking about Snacks as I didnt want to incorporate them too soon and was asking what others were doing. I have 2 outings next month to go to and I wanted to be prepared with maybe bringing something of my own I could snack on. etc I appreciate everyone's input thanks

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend .

For outings, nuts are a great choice since they don't need to be refrigerated :)

If I'm hungry yes, I'll try to go for Protein rich Snacks like nuts or yogurt or low calorie foods like plain popcorn or popsicles.

I snack on Kay's Naturals Protein chips and Snacks as well as Simply Protein snacks. I make my own Jerky, dried fruits, etc etc etc. Snacking with high protein and good fats is a great way to keep your metabolism up!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
