Please Help, I'm burning!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

As most of you may know, I am exactly two weeks post op as of today (Monday). For the past four or

five days I've been experiencing burning pain around the band area of my tummy. It has caused the entire area to become sore. I was not having this before, in fact I thought I was healing very well.

It all started a few nights ago when I was repositioning myself in bed as I slept when suddenly I got this sharp pain each time I would move. So, I just layed there and was still for a while. But it seems that since them I'm having severe burning. It is very uncomfortable. Initially, I thought it was a part of the healing process. But it hasn't gotten any better yet.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Jamie, thanks for responding anyway. I am somewhat nervous. By the way, when is your surgery date?

Do you remember initially doing anything like tugging or over-reaching? Is your band surgeon local? Is the pain constant or caused by certain movements? On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your pain? Are you running a fever? Does the area seem hot to the touch and/or look red? Does eating and/or drinking seem to affect it?

I would put a call into your dr's office, just to be on the safe side. A visit might be worth it for your peace of mind. Severe burning doesn't sound normal. Please let us know what you find out! Good luck!

Thanks Marie and Jamie. I don't remember doing anything to excess unless I slept twisted that particular night. I have no fever and the pain catches me off guard with certain movement. I will keep you guys posted.

Is the pain in your chest or where your port is? You may have pulled out some stitches holding your port in place. Or it may be some other problem. This really is one for you doctor. Actually, any questions you worry about are worth calling your doctor. Hope it gets better soon.

The pain is around the band area. However, my port has healed very well (no pain).

I will be calling my doctor today. Thanks Becky.

Shaz - It is a good idea to call your Doctor. We try to help everyone when we can, but we aren't doctors, and we want you to have the correct information. Good luck and let us know what he tells you.

I don't think you should be experiencing that amount of pain and for that long. I'd have already called my doctor, I'm a whimp.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
