By the time we set sail, I’ll be just over 7 months post op... I’m thinking WAY ahead of myself but of course the cruise excitement is getting to me. I’ve cruised tons of times but with a full stomach (and have gained way too much )

Anyone been on a cruise post WLS? How was it for you? I’m nervous about struggling with my Water intake and Vitamin regimen...

We are going with a pretty large group (15 People) and only 3 of them know of my surgery so of course I’m also worried about the looks I’ll get for not feasting on all of the cruise food lol.

I feel like by 7 months I should have my routine down packed but we all know how vacations are. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Any tips/suggestions/stories? Please share

I too will cruise 7 months after surgery. Don't worry too much about other folks. As for you Water decorate it with fruit and sip on. Don't let one event or one person undermind your progress. Have fun cause you know you will be looking fine.

I'm going on one 5 months after my RNY. June surgery and a Thanksgiving cruise. I'm happily willing to trade in the drink package for a tankini poolside. I'm planning to throw some Protein Powder and bars into the luggage just to make sure I don't fall behind during the 7 days of fun in the sun. I'm sure all those stairs will be so much easier after I've shed some pounds.

Cruising is my favorite vacay. It used to be all about the drink and dining package. I'm thinking a splurge on a few new clothes and maybe I'll actually use the workout clothes I pack every time but never actually pull out. Maybe I'll even brave the Water slides with the kids.

Good luck and have fun.

I’m going the end of June, it will be 4 months after surgery. I’m trying to get into a regular meal plan of green juice or Protein Shake for Breakfast and salad for lunch. Then Protein and veg for dinner. It has been going well and if I maintain that on the cruise I should do just fine! I’m so excited!! Mine leaves June 30

Taking Protein powder and bars on board is a great idea! I usually pack workout clothes for every past cruise too but they never got used for working out [emoji23]

I’m also hoping to finally get on the slides! Have always been afraid to because of my weight. I have always been above the weight limit for most things majority of my life. Might be adventurous and go zip lining too!

I hope you have fun on your trip as well!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
