2 questions - sweating and burping

Recommended Posts

Hello All! I am 5 days post-op and i am trying to figure out this whole smaller stomach thing, still on the post-op Phase 1 liquid diet. Everytime i drink anything it feels like i trapped air bubbles in there, then i am uncomfortably burping for the next hour. Is this normal? what am i doing wrong?

Also, I have been sweating ALOT, this is the 1st weekend it has been pretty warm here, but it goes beyond a little sweat on my forehead, i feel drenched, sweat running down my face, chest, back, etc. Anyone else been experiencing this?

Don't know about the sweating, so I can't help you there.

The bubbling/gurgling is normal. Your stomach is very swollen so there's very little room for the liquid to go through to your intestines and it trickles down slowly. You can try drinking slower, but it may not help. Burp if you can (I can't) and just tolerate it until the swelling goes down.

Are you avoiding straws? Added air flow can be a cause. Also, are you mixing your own Protein Shakes? I always had to let mine settle before drinking because there were a lot of air bubbles. I still feel that way from time to time.

As far as the sweating goes, I remember being very warm in the hospital. It might be your body's natural reaction to healing. I didn't start developing the notorious "cold intolerance" until just recently.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond. I am glad to know the burpring/air bubbles are a normal part of the healing process. I will have to ask the dr. at my 1 week checkup.

thanks again!

I swear, the worst thing they could do was to tell me to drink more slowly. It made me think about it all the time and the more I thought about it, the worse I got about swallowing air! Like I haven't been swallowing my whole life! Thinking about it made it so challenging!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
