I week after sleeve surgery, doing great!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, so thought I would post an update.

It has been a week since my surgery but every day that passes brings me stronger health. I came through the surgery brilliantly and was up and walking about an hour after going back to the ward. After speaking to my surgeon, he said I had shrunk my liver very successfully and this was one of the main reasons I was doing so well after surgery.

I know this must be true as my daughter had the same sleeve surgery two years ago and she was in agony after hers, on loads of pain medication and couldn't walk around or do anything for at least a week. I am so glad I followed the guidelines and didn't cheat, it has made a world of difference to my recovery. For anyone who is doing a preop at the moment, please seriously think about committing to it fully, you will be up and about after surgery a lot easier if you follow the plan to shrink your liver.

I have been on a liquid diet for a week which hasn't been hard to do. The amount of Water I can drink has improved dramatically as well. Each day I was able to take slightly larger amounts so my sipping actually is now real drinking, albeit slightly slower than I would normally, but still, a great improvement.
I have had no hunger at all, still amazed by that!

Today I get to eat puree, hurray!
My first meal is going to be some liquefied scrambled egg and later on for tea, I will be having some mash with carrot and liver, blended, so excited!

I got weighed today for the first time since surgery and I have lost 12lbs, gob smacked.

Oh and just for the uk people, I am in the nineteens! I know this won't mean anything to our american friends as they weigh in lbs but it was a joy to see the scales saying 19 stone instead of 20 stone today!

Congrats on your super recovery! Just curious, I know a stone is 14lb. But how do you do the fractional stones? i.e. is it 14.4 stone or 14 stone, 3 pounds, 14 stone, 8 pebbles? (Just kidding)

My grandparents were from Ireland. My grandfather always listed weights in stone.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
