I had a C-section 6 months ago, and I was wondering if anybody can describe if/how the pain is similar or different?

After my delivery, I got up and walked asap because I know you recover faster, and the most painful part to me was the feeling that everything in my stomach area was going to spill out, (I know some people get this with vaginal delivery too) but other than that, the actual incision wasn't too painful and I've been curiously wondering how the two "pains" compare!

I've had both. The sleeve was a cakewalk in comparison

Ditto! C section was way harder! Harder than my vaginal birth too!

I had both. C-Section is brutal by comparison. My sleeve was super easy and hardly slowed me up. My C-section on the other hand.....kicked my arse for weeks.

There's no comparison.

Sleeve is MUCH less painful and an easier recovery.

Wow!!!! I'm so glad to hear the unanimous c-section is harder, haha. I've l been wondering for a while and I couldn't really find "current" opinions! Thanks for the input everyone

Just had the sleeve Monday morning. I went in expecting recovery to be the same as the c-section, but it was way easier! Everyone was in awe of how well I was up and recovering in the hospital. If they only knew what it was like to have a c-section...

It will all be worth it. Don't give up!

My emergency c-section was 26 years ago, and much worse than my sleeve surgery. With the c-section, I was throwing up, and allergic to the pain meds. For the sleeve, no nausea or vomiting, no pain (except gas) and I felt great. Night and day!

That’s a good question. The pain after the C-Section was worse, in my opinion. The pain from sleeve surgery can best be described as soreness for me at Day 4 Post-op. I’m not even taking Tylenol nor the pain meds for it. The problem for me isn’t the pain, but the nausea.

Yes I agreed with everyone C section was more painful... i had RNY, they gave me HYCET every 4hrs (i think) and i keep refusing it coz I’m not in pain (although i still took it coz its my surgeon’s order)... its just the feeling of being bloated but you cant fart is how i can described it.

Maybe I'm the only one here. I find my sleeve recovery time wise is worse, but I think the c-section pain was worse the first week. I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I'm still in a good deal of pain depending on the time of day or what I'm doing. BUT I am 14 years older, not as distracted by a newborn and a toddler and back then I weighed 40 pounds less and could eat MANY more calories and could drink 8+ oz water at a sitting as opposed to now where it takes me hours. I don't remember needing many painkillers with my c-section, I am usually a rockstar when it comes to pain. That lower right incision is kicking my butt

c-section was WAY tougher. I am 12 days out and by 4-5 days I was down to a dull ache. I can sneeze and cough without pain--unlike my c-section where it hurt for a good month.

So, I had two c-sections - also had my surgery 13 years after my last baby. VSG was a walk in the park. Literally. I had surgery Tuesday, came home Wednesday and was at the grocery store on Friday - made the family carry the stuff in and had one of the nice kids at the market load the car, but other than a 10 pound lifting restriction for two weeks - this was amazingly easy.

Now, I did have trouble at first finding a temperature at which my new tummy liked liquids. And it was fickle. But I had no complications.

In fact, today, having my blood drawn for an 18 month post-op check up (a little late) the tech looked at me and said - you're not planning to lose any more are you - you look perfect! (I want to put on more muscle and get rid of some fat - it's not about numbers now.) Best of luck.

Sleeve itself recovery was very good, main issues I had were actually non-surgery problems: an IV shifting out of my vein and pumping my arm full of fluid overnight 2 nights post op was very painful for a day, and the MSG headache I got the following day for eating some of the hospitals soups which must have been loaded with glutemates despite me being told it was made with "real ingredients".

Taoz maybe they made your soups with "natural or organic" MSG? I get the feeling people don't listen too good. I'm getting,more vegan, more natural and,unprocessed as I grow older, okay, so this is a story from the past., Decided to make" Johnnie Marzetti " for supper this particular day. Used my own tomatoes, onions, mince from when my cousin last butchered, homemade noodles I had made, my maternal grandmother had taught me to make,them before she died when I was 8, never had a failure making them. At any rate made a big soup tureen-full. I always cook,like I was expecting a guest or 2 to drop in, the joking name we have around here is "cooking for a threshing crew" I suppose an Aussie equivalent would be enough to feed sheep shearers and the Prime Minister too.
Went out to the garden , picked enough greens for a good salad and had it ready too. Although late hubs was a devoted potato,eater he didn't get any this time. Family sits down and digs in. Older son says "Mummy this is soo good," yes I said "everything is fresh and home'made, nothing from the stores". And of course that's the way it always should be, but sometimes I've gotten lazy and used parially processed things but you know, you can taste the difference.

This is such a relief to read you all ! I keep thinking I will be recovering like from my c-section (from which I was truly fine physically but emotionnaly exhausted after a 48-hour labor, and truly exhausted because of the newborn of course). I am glad to know that if everthing goes alright, it should be easier.
