Exactly!! And Hashimoto's is Brutal on Weight, I gained 70lbs in 8 months! When is your surgery date?

I have gained about the same as u in the course of about 9 mos. I don't have a surgery date yet. I finish my 6 mos doctor monitored weight loss requirement in July so I'm thinking a late August/early Sept surgery date.

You are definitely not alone, it's tough. I'm just hoping if I go through this process, it helps regulate things somewhat. Good luck to u as well. Mind if I follow u to keep an eye on your progress?

Sure would like that [emoji1303]

Almost there!
Thankfully my insurance does not require a 6 month monitored weight loss requirement. I'm just hoping after surgery the Hashimoto's will calm itself. [emoji20]

Beyond Amazing!! I seem
to have cycles of feeling human and then complete exhaustion.
It's the worst. You'd think after a year on meds it would have evened-out a bit, but nope...every say is still unpredicatable. I did add Selenium to my supplements and that seems to minorly help.

I might have to try that in the meantime. I just had labs done and my level is still in the 30s.

My doctor went straight to Armour Thyroid. It took well into a year though and I still have bad days where I'm just a zombie in pajamas. 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's Non-synthetic. It's actually Pig Thyroid, sounds kind of ick - but it isnt any different than another pill. From what I understand my Thyroid is non-productive, so he (My Doc) is just replacing what I cannot make. It's supposed to be lifelong.

Maybe your Thyroid situation is a bit different, or you're too young or something? Not sure.

I hope so, I just better not gain any and get denied. I literally have nightmares of that happening! 70 days till my last weigh in.. Haha (can hardly tell I'm anxious, huh?)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
