Where is your goal weight?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious how everyone is coming up with a goal weight. Is it what they weighed when they were 20, when they got married, before an accident, "ideal body weight...." My ideal body weight is 135 and I don't know if I can dare to dream a goal like that or if I should make mini goals instead.

My goal weight is 180, because that's what I weighed in the military, when I was in the absolute best shape of my life. 30 inch waist, 2 mile run < 12 minutes, and rock-solid abs. I will get there again! I've already got the exercise part going strong, now it's up to my diet to catch up to me!! It's hard work getting rid of 15 years of couch-potato living! I've already lost a "toddler" though!! :(

I picked 130 because of my age and bone structure. I am not a big boned person and probably if I was younger I would have picked 115. I just don't think now at 49, I would look healthy that slim. If I am happy at 135 or 140 I will readjust my goal. I'm 5'3" so I think at 150 I would still be to heavy.

When I started I was 343 lbs. I was required by my insurance company required that I undergo a 3 mo medically supervised diet before surgery. I was 278 at surgery 1/23/07. Today I am 196 lbs, and getting the last 20 lbs off is driving me crazy. I know being 50 yrs old I should not let it bother me, but I work at a oBand Surgery Center and I am the one who talks to patients all day long and therefore I am somewhat of an example for them. I keep gaining more muscle than the pounds that I'm loosing.

My actual healthy wieght is below 120 since I'm short but getting anywhere in the 140's or 130's and I would be thrilled. I lost alot during the pre-insuarance stages so right now I'm making mini-goals. My current mini-goal in to be close to (if not in) the 150s by February (my oldest childs birthday)

Oh gee, I better not answer this. I"m in enough trouble with my views on goal weight.

I set mine at the top of the healthy weight range for my height. When I got there I was still chubby, so I kept going. I"m about half way down the range now, and I still need to lose a bit more round the middle so I guess I'll keep going. I might have to actually diet hard to make any more come off though.

Unlike Jacqui, I am thinking about making my "Goal" weight higher. I know that if I had a Tummy Tuck that I would be at my goal weight since I'm within 10 or 15 lbs. I am happy with were I am, but because of doing commercials and being in the spotlight I feel like I'm being pushed to go lower in weight.

sorry to LOL, but I am reminded of the scene in "Knocked Up" where the main female lead is in the office being told by her boss she "doesn't need to lose weight, but could she just 'tighten' a little." That scene is great for the lunacy of what is acceptable or not for weight in certain parts of society.

My goal was determined by me and my doctor. We discussed what I would like to be and what he would like me to be. We went with what he wants me to be because it is more attainable. I want to be below 156 ideally so we'll see. But for now we will try to get to 170 like my doc wants ;)

My Dr. wants me to get to 135, but I want 125-130. For my height 5 ft 1 inch most charts say 105-115, but that will never happen and I really would not want to be that thin.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
