My date is June 27th and beyond excited!! I'm working hard on my mental game and really working on my food addiction issues. I have been using Deepak Chopra's Shedding the Weight meditations. I listen to them over and over and journal to help myself with this process.

Is anyone else’s family trying to feed them everything before you start the liquid diet. I have enough of a time controlling my own urges, I don’t need any help! I know they mean well. Just curious if my family is the only weirdos.

@okayestmom I haven't told all of my family, but i feel like they would do this! So far only my mom and brother and sister know outside of my hubby. My hubby on the other hand keeps trying to shovel food down my throat "like eat this before you can't!" I keep telling him I will be able to eat that just a small bite will be the only difference. He keeps saying hes gonna get himself a new fluffy wife that loves food since i wont eat so much with him soon.... lol (we joke a lot his crazyness makes me laugh everyday)

My problem right now is that I e been so busy with house buying ad land preparations that I’ve fallen off the wagon in regards to eating well. During my six months of medical weight loss, I’ve done incredibly well and even lost 39 pounds. I don’t need anyone to shove food down my throat. I’m currently having trouble with eating properly all on my own! 🙁

Yep, this is me. I gained weight after my first appointment back in February (celebrating). I finally got down to my first visit weight and am trying to lose more before the surgery because they say the more you lose before helps you lose after. I get that I cannot clear my kitchen of temptation because I have a thin very active 17 year old boy and a husband who has to eat extra calories due to a mass on his adrenal gland. They literally ordered 3 large pizzas and kept offering me some. I didn’t do it. One piece just turns into 3 and so on. They can have the leftover pizza. I just keep reminding myself that it is the unhealthy mass quantities of food that are causing me to not feel well. Would I continue to take a pill that made me feel good at first and then made me feel sick later? Unfortunately, I believe that is what I have done to myself. It just crept up so slow and like you I was busy and not paying attention.

I just went through the thread and followed all the June surgery people. There were several from Texas like me and several teachers. In am not a teacher, but work with Communities In Schools which also follows the school schedule. My organization does not usually work summer school, but I do because I am in an alternative school that offers summer school. I won't be there this year because of my surgery :(. I am hoping we can encourage and keep each other accountable through this forum, and maybe us Texas folks can meet up next summer in a central location. Enchanted rock in Fredericksburg, the River Walk in San Antonio, 6th Street in Austin, or the trillion of places near Dallas where my daughter is. Heck, maybe we can walk a 5k together, just trying to be optimistic and be with some people that get it. I have attached this video before but I hope you guys enjoy my weight loss fish.

I’m down for that! I live in the College Station area, about 1.5 miles from EVERYWHERE. But I drive all the time and would love to have a goal of a 5 K in a year.

I'd be in for a 5k as well. That's one of the things i'm looking forward to is running again! I also live in Dallas. @Gully90 if you don't mind me asking are you having your sleeve done locally?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
