Once you finish your surgeons required testing then they will submit to insurance. They may have you do or you may have already done blood work, psych eval, esophageal test & an ekg. Authorization from insurance can take as little as a week on up to 30 days depending on you insurance.

Everyones journey is a little different. The hardest part of this process is being patient. Just stay the course and hopefully before you know it you'll be counting down the days til surgery.

Hello! I am in MA too, but going through Mount Auburn in Waltham. Did you call your insurance and find out what their stipulations were?

Nice, I’m actually from Waltham! I did not call insurance. I kind of just assumed given my weight/age/history I would be a shoe-in

You would at least been asleep for the EGD, with the barium swallow you're gonna be right present and there. Bummer![emoji10]

Really looks good, I would say that's a very good sign things are moving along. So happy there is nothing bad at all. You've got,a little scoliosis, perfectly normal. I have it, as do many girls and some boys. Mine and that of my daughter were bad enough both boys had to have Xrays, too. This is one place in life where unremarkable is to be desired. Please keep me updated on your progress, we're going through this journey together, it's a lot less scary when you have someone to walk it with you. God Bless.

yes i definitely don’t mind being unremarkable in this regard lol!! i’ve had scoliosis probably since i was like 8, so no surprise there. and i knew i had a little bit of reflux (as in if i eat spicy/acidic food i get reflux) so i wasn’t surprised by any of the findings. My next step is to attend a young adult meeting on april 26 and in the mean time cut down on my coffee/alcohol/weed intake (the coffee and alcohol have been fairly easy to cut down on)

definitely easier to go through the process with others, i will keep updating as things move along! best of luck to you as well!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
