Still Waiting for Surgery Date

Recommended Posts

My insurance company approved my surgery on February 22nd and I received an email from my surgeon's office stating that they would be calling soon with a surgery date. I've called twice and left messages with the appropriate person but have received no return call from the scheduling department. The doctor I've chosen is booked farther out than his colleges, but I'm getting very frustrated. Has anyone else been waiting forever to be scheduled? The reason I chose this particular surgeon is because he is board certified and trained at Cleveland Clinic, and the other surgeon is board eligible.

Oh man, that's terrible... no, I was able to schedule as soon as I got my approval. That's pretty poor staffing though... do you have a patients portal through the hospital? I can always go on that and email my surgeon's staff when I have questions or concerns.

I'm going to email the head surgeon tomorrow and see if he can help me out. I realize I'm not their only patient, but I think they've had long enough to squeeze me in somewhere!

I'll keep you posted! Once I get my date, I have to have a physical from my PC, an endoscopy and bloodwork. After all that, I'll be golden! :D

May 7th was my late son' s birthday, he would have been 42 this year, died at 31 so it's been a little over 10 years. This year with your surgery date I have something positive to think of on that date.[emoji6] You would have loved knowing him, I still miss him, so does his brother. Each milestone in life, I wish he was still here to share them with us. He would have been proud and supportive of my weight loss struggles, I know I'm losing this weight for myself, but a small part to honor the faith he always had in me.[emoji56] So on your day I will cheer you on but there will still be tears in my eyes![emoji8]

I emailed the head surgeon/director of the practice and told him I was having trouble getting scheduled. The next day the lady called me and I got scheduled! I guess it's true that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I hope she didn't get into trouble!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thirty-one is very young. I know he's watching over you. I'll be thinking of you on that day and, believe me, I'll understand the tears. He'll live on forever in your heart.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
