No fill until January!!!

Recommended Posts

My doctor is the only one I've heard of that makes you wait 3 months for a fill. At first I was ok with it because that meant I would still be able to enjoy the holidays a little before getting a fill. I wouldn't eat as much as I would normally but would still be able to eat pretty much whatever I wanted. Now that I am almost 1 month post-op, and haven't really had problems eating anything (even though I am staying away from breads and rice voluntarily).

I am starting to struggle with the amount of food I am eating. For example, yesterday for lunch I had a Healthy Choice meal and by the time I left work I was starving. For dinner I went to KFC and for some chicken strips and potatoes and ate all of it. Then I felt guilty that I ate so much but didn't feel like I had overeaten, I was just comfortable.

I'm starting to get scared that until I get a fill I will be eating too much. Any ideas on how I can get through the next couple of months? Should I be increasing my Protein shakes? Should I be having smaller, more frequent meals? Help!

I should add that my doc already has me on a regular diet. I only did 5 days of full liquids and 5 of mushies before he had me putting regular foods into my diet.

I think that you should eat smaller meals more often, and drink high Protein, low calorie Protein Drinks. Keep a food journal, and call your doctor and tell him that you are starving and you feel that you are eating too much and you have proof (show him your food journal), and you need a fill sooner not later. I would wait 6 weeks, because that is the normal time most doctors do a fill. This is just my opinion.

Misty,

I feel your pain, as a Carter patient, I wont be filled until Jan7th,I also feel that's too long, I know all too well the feeling of starving, i can eat a regular combo at jack in the box, that scares me!!! i lost 18lbs, but i've gained 4 of it back,i'am gonna ask to be filled sooner, it should not matter, according to Carters office my ins co has a hard time paying for fills ( BCBS Federal) so i have to pay for fills and hopefully get refunded by my ins co.......Drama,Drama,Drama

Misty, this sounds like me - except I think my first fill will be 6 weeks post op. But I'm not two full weeks out, and apart from volume, can eat many foods. I am a veggie, so meat isn't there, but I have had half a veggie sausage and some mashed potatoes during my mushie stage. I force myself not to have a sandwich each day for lunch.

I find the different instructions from all our doctors quite confusing as the intensity varies so widely! I am getting really hungry, but so far, hanging on and no caving in before dinnertime. My doc said "only eat when hungry", and mornings are usually no hunger times, but as the day wears on and stress builds, my tummy grumbles ;)

I had an opti shake tonight because I felt I needed the nutrition, and I have started a berocca per day too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?
