One month post op and slow weight loss

Recommended Posts

That’s almost 5 pounds a week! I don’t see how you could think that’s slow!! That’s great! Congrats!!

Stop comparing yourself to others. You have no idea what their starting weight is, their height, or if they are even telling the truth. My suggestion is to measure yourself, and only weight yourself every couple of weeks or so. When you aren’t seeing the pounds come off, you’ll see the inches coming off!

I had to stay away from these sites for a while too because I kept comparing journey to others. Just stick to your plan and keep up the great work!!

Yep - we're pretty similar. I had my op on 12th Jan and have lost a similar amount to you x

I would second the idea that even if you aren't seeing the pounds come off, you are very likely losing inches. Take your measurements... waist, hips, neck, upper arm, upper thigh. The inches add up quickly. You are doing great!!

I weighed 298 on the day of surgery, and I lost 22 pounds in the first month post-op. Without knowing more information about you, it's hard to say exactly how you've done, but I would imagine that you are right on target.

You're not going to lose all of your excess weight in a matter of a few months. This journey is much more a marathon than it is a sprint. You have to make lifelong changes and stick to them.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
