Stomach upset all the time

Recommended Posts

Im about 2 months post sleeve 12/12. I had a good recovery and have been on an as tolerated diet since 5 weeks. I have lost 50 lbs including the preop diet. Latley ( past 1.5 weeks) my stomach is constantly upset feels like its churning. I also wake up at night due to the sick feeling. Otherwise I have no other issues. I have been taking my omeprazole as prescribed daily. I find that I can no longer tolerate dairy well and the protien shakes are making me feel nauseated. Has anyone else struggled with this? Any suggestions as to how to proceed as I feel that I am currently under eating and I do not want to damage my metabolism.

Yes, I had surgery and have had similar issues in recent weeks. I gave up Protein Shakes and other things that suddenly were making me nauseous, mainly meats. I still get in my Protein with a lot of Beans, eggs, low-fat cheese and other high protein foods. I'm just paying close attention to what my body is telling me and adjusting my diet accordingly. It's helping.

Yes, I was sleeved on 1/17 and I'm having the exact same issue! I had it a couple of times last week, but for the last couple of days it's been worse, and also waking me up at night. I'm still on full liquids, so it's hard to avoid the Protein Shakes, but it's like all of a sudden I'm just not tolerating them. Can't wait to move to the next phase and get more variety. I hope that will help. My doc already upped my omeprazole to twice daily but that did not seem to help.

Have you tried switching to lactose free milk? I was lactose intolerant prior so surgery so nothing changed for me in that regard. I usually stick to lactose free skim milk and use almond milk now and then. In a shake you really can't taste a difference with the almond milk. Plus it tends to be lower in calories/carbs than regular milk.

Does the upset feeling only come after eating/drinking? Or at least made worse or all the same through the day?

It seems to be there the majority of the time. I am in the process of eliminating all dairy as it seems to be a trigger or at least make it worse. Im also finding that suger in any amount seems to be an issue. I have a call into the surgeons office to see of they have any thoughts regarding these symptoms. Unfortunately they are not really great about follow up so may have to go the route of my PCP. Thank uou all for the responses.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
