So my dietitian and psychologist finally signed off on me to take the pre surgical classes and post nutrition classes! Woohoo its starting to be sureal. Those are my last appointments to attend in march before meeting with my surgeon.

Any who i found out we are not required to do the 2 week liquid diet prior surgery. Did any one else not have to do that as well? If so, did your drs tell you why?

Idk why but for some reason i was looking foward to doing the pre 2 week liquid diet. Lmao

Mine is not so,much worried about last minute forced weight loss with a liquid diet, he'd rather we have a balanced, low carb diet immediately prior to surgery. Surprised me too, I thought he would want the liver shrunk and the bowels relatively clear of fecal junk. Well you know what they say about assume my friends.

Having read through this board before meeting with the surgeon for the first time last month, the pre-op diet was one of my biggest questions. He said he doesn't require it. After that the nutritionist at the hospital gave me a booklet with all sorts of directions to follow and that document says I have to do the two weeks liquid diet. Fortunately for me, the doctor told me what he says goes when I checked with him afterward. He said the hospital's guide is good for the post-op regimen it details, but his word is final for pre-op.

My surgery is on February 14th. I was not required to do a full liquid diet. It is partial allowing for one lean and green meal per day. My BMI is 49, however, my doctor said simply they've been doing these a long time, and have refined their requirements as they've learned what worked well and what did not.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
