10 days post op- think I pushed myself to much today-- in pain..

Recommended Posts

I am 10 day post op .surgery on Jan 18th. Today I thought let me try to clean my house. I vacuumed and mopped floors cleaned and organized kids rooms. I started noticing my incisions being sore.. then the main one above my belly botton where they removed by stomach is so sore right underneath.. could have damaged something .? I was bending over a lot and of course when I got to the point of pain is when I decided to stop.. such a typical women/mother move.. and now I'm laying here in pain. I even ended up taking a left over pain killer..

Help..

Ouch! That wasn't the smoothest move....and sounds exactly like something I'd do.

I'd be really surprised, however, if you did anything that caused any real damage. 10 days out, some serious knitting has already occurred. They put really heavy duty suture material in the muscle wall, too. So, while the sutures probably pulled like crazy and caused some irritation...I doubt you did anything dangerous.

If you're scared...keep track of your temp and your heart rate. If both are in the normal range and don't start going up....all is well.

obviously, if you notice heat that doesn't improve, or new bulges ....or systemic symptoms like nausea or spreading pain...seek help right away.

I think you just overdid it...and pulled on those healing tissues in a way that let you know it was the wrong thing to do.

Ice packs might help.

@tofeeling greatagain there was a great line from All in the Family or one of that era shows-yeah I'm old enough to remember them. It goes: your mind is writing checks your body is hard pressed to cash. Don't get overtired, remember you are still in the process of healing, be good to yourself. If you try to do everything for everyone else, they will let you and you'll wear yourself out. Just the grandma in me passing out advice.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
