My Breakfast is usually coffee with some Protein Powder mixed in. While the coffee is brewing, I make a sort of paste with my vanilla Protein powder and a little almond milk. Then when the coffee is ready I pour it in. It keeps me satisfied til my break time.

Aldi brand Greek yogurt. I'm cleared for eggs and toast, but it's just not sitting quite right with me yet. I might try Peanut Butter and toast next week.

Does anyone have an opinion on white vs. wheat toast? White sits with me better than wheat, but wheat is, well, not healthier, but less unhealthy.

I was not allowed Peanut Butter and toast on my plan during the weight loss stage. Your plan does not look like my plan. I'm three years out. Instructions may have changed.

Wheat toast is much better than white toast because it has a lower glycemic index. So why is this better?

When you eat refined sugar or refined carbs like white flower....the sugar hits your bloodstream really fast...and your pancreas reacts to the sugar spike by making a insulin spike. Unfortunately, the pancreas often will produce too much insulin in response to pure sugar....so it runs out of sugar to "neutralize" and then you have too much insulin...which creates a hunger spike and craving for sugar....and you end up in this nasty cycle of hunger/eat/hunger/eat.....that sabotages your diet and makes you feel kinda cruddy.

If you stick with low glycemic carbs that take longer to digest and have slower releasing sugars...you don't run into this as much and feel much less hungry. Go for whole grain carbs:)

My plan allowed Peanut Butter and whole grain toast in the soft solid foods stage...about a month after surgery.

Yes, my plan also allows Peanut Butter and toast starting at week 5. I think peanut butter may even have been allowed during the pureed stage, but I don't remember.

Until I'm on the general diet, I'm concerned mostly with which is easier on a healing stomach, white or wheat.

I had to restrain myself from finishing this so I could take a picture. God I love my bacon!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
