Feels like I pulled a muscle in my abdomen?

Recommended Posts

It’s not under my incision it’s above my belly button? I was fine yesterday. This is new. Since it’s new should I worry? 10 days post op.

For me, I took an adult dose of milk of magnesia and had a bowel movement. The pain went away afterwards.

Check your heart rate. If it’s above 120, go to the ER. If it’s between 100-120, call your doctor and see what they recommend you do. If it’s below 100, then it’s just the bowel movement and could be your muscles healing.

Thank you for that. Very helpful! I think it must be muscular. I’ve had small bowel movements but I’ve just began taking a med my gastro prescribed & my Probiotics. I’m gonna give it a cpl days, try to be more mindful of my movements & see if it fixes itself. Back to work today. No time for down time! 🤢

I had the exact same pain, mine went away after a couple of weeks. My friend who had her gallbladder removed had the same pain, it has something to do with the muscles there. It feels like you’ve done 1000 sit-ups

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
