Recommended Posts

I got sleeved 7 mos ago today at 68. Recovery was a breeze no pain just a little discomfort. Regardless of how ur recovery is it’s well worth it!

Wow!! I’m so impressed!

I'm 62, had the sleeve on 10/24/17 and no issues recovering. The dry mouth is awful right after surgery and sipping is hard at first due to swelling but it improves quickly after that. Use biotene mouth swabs. For nausea ask the anesthesiologist to give you a scopolamine patch before surgery - works like a charm. For pain ask for acetaminophen 1000mg in the IV - I would have called anyone a liar if they told me tylenol would work that well but it really did. You will be tired for about 4 weeks and the biggest hurdle is getting enough fluids - stay on top of that from the beginning. Sometimes you can be confused about the difference between acid reflux, hunger pangs and an empty stomach - acid reflux can feel like hunger. Good luck - and see you on the other side.

What can you do for acid reflux after surgery?

@Gundy if you have symptoms ask for a PPI like omeprazole. Some docs automatically put their patients on it for the first 6 months. And there are diff brands - some people have to try a couple to find one that works the best. A 'gnawing' feeling can resemble hunger but is reflux instead. However, not everyone gets reflux. I have very little reflux.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
