Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Ok, I was sleeved on 12/28/17, and after 7 days I was allowed to go on to pureed foods. I know a lot of people are looking forward to this stage, or at least thinking about it. It may be a little fast for me, but I was told to try scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, etc. as I could tolerate them. I'm looking for tips and ideas, as well as willing to share my own. I'm doing my shake for Breakfast. Scrambled eggs were disappointing. I made some deviled eggs, but those hit me hard in the stomach. Vienna sausages, apple sauce, and skim milk make up most of the "solid" food I can handle at this point. I did have some refried Beans one day, and string cheese. I do want to try EggFace's Ricatta Bake, but I haven't made it to the store lately. Any ideas are appreciated.

I'll share the foods that are on my list of pureed and very soft foods, but some that spring to mind are:

Nonfat yogurt (regular and Greek)

Nonfat cream cheese (weird to think of just eating some cream cheese, but OK)

I've also been eating unsweetened apple sauce and enjoying it, may try sprinkling some cinnamon on top.

Also, I highly recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Start-Bariatric-Cookbook-Weight-Loss/dp/1623157730/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1515181665&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bariatric+cookbook&psc=1

Take it slow, when I started eggs were too tough. I ended up doing lentil Soup, which was good and very liquid. I did do some purée chicken (puréed chicken and some light mayo dressing). My purée stage was 2 weeks, so I didn't get too creative and mostly did shakes or soup and at the end yogurt. Soft foods is a much more fulfilling stage.

Had a lot of the same struggles. Eggs in general were tough, whether scrambled or deviled. Even though mashed potatoes don't have any decent nutritional value they're a nice "comfort" food at that point. Yogurts were a must for me at that stage. I wasn't allowed any sort of solid meats until 4 weeks. I could blend tuna after 2 weeks but didn't have much interest in that personally.

The ricotta bake was a Godsend to be honest. That was one of the best things in the world at that stage. It was super tastey and felt like I was actually eating real food again. Definitely put that on your list.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
