Hi everyone, I was banded on Oct 3 and I am loving my new life! I have dropped 2 pant sizes! Total lost so far 31 lbs. from beginning of the liquid diet until now. (6 weeks total) Problem is I am getting tired of refried Beans and cottage cheese. Anyone have ideas for me on what to eat? :clap2:

Congratulations!! I love hearing the success stories.....I am being banded on Nov 9th and I am nervous as the time approaches. But I also know that I will be on the road to feeling better.

Keep up the great job. I hear from others that you should be able to eat pretty much anything you want just in very very small amounts..lol

My mentor through our bariatriac center here is 18 months post banding and she went from size 26 to a size 8 and she eats anything she wants, but she limits her sugar to occasionally and watches the fat content of her food and justs keeps remembering to put good food into her mouth.

Hope this helps.

Kristin:clap2:

I'm on soft food until my first fill, November 16th, so I know exactly what you mean--I began with a general plan of what each day's diet would consist of and now in the second week after liquid, I too am running out of options.

My biggest issue is with breakfast: have never cared for eggs but have been eating eggbeaters every day. Today I tried baby oatmeal and it was just bland, even with sweet n low! May have to go back to yogurt (1/2 6 oz. container)

Went to the grocery store the other day and just cruised the aisles looking for something that would be good and simple and mushy: best thing I found was a small can of cranberry jelly!

Have done mashed potatoes for dinner and have some canned veggies I plan on whipping up. I have been dreaming of mashed cauliflower and so may buy cheap frozen and cook it down and mash it up!

But like you, my main dinner in two weeks has been refried Beans with shredded cheese on top.

Soon we'll be able to have a small amount of regular--yum-m-m!

hey, i'm not where you guys are yet, but my doctor says that when i make it to soft foods, i can have meatloaf, ravioli, spaghetti, lunchmeat (turkey), etc.

i was banded this past Thursday and last night was the first time that i consumed something of substance (healthy choice chicken enchilada soup--blended YYYYUUUUMMMMMM). I'm having the other half for lunch :).

I feel like i may have over done it last night. when i took my first bite, my body was screaming for more, so i ate a little over half of the can. did you experience this?

Bandster 10-07: My Bariatric Center provided me with a guide for each phase: liquid (1-2 weeks), soft (2-4 weeks), and even when we get to regular food.

Each surgeon seems to be different, but for soft foods, your surgeon seems extremely flexible (I'd kill for some meatloaf!!). With our liquid phase, I sipped about 1/4 - 1/2 cup every half an hour--Protein shakes, coffee, tea, diluted juice, skim milk, and broths.

Marcy: Forgot my very favorite soft food my surgeon specifically said I could have, tuna salad!!

yeah my surgeon is very flexible. i'm in full liquid now and basically anything that i can count the calories of that i can suck thru a straw, i can have. That is it.

i told my dh, that next thursday we are having meatloaf and mashed potatoes. my doc says we can also have baked fish (we can have fried, but you know....fat...) and basically just anything that is not really dry.

then on week 5 i get to eat real food.

my surgeon was one of the first in the nation to be trained in this surgery, and he has since done 1000 plus bands. i'm glad he's flexible. :)

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I have learned to eat yoguart which I couldn't stand to eat before surgery. I also got some ideas from others like I cooked 2 potatoes 2 carrots and sm onion in chicken broth until mushy . I ate 1/4 cup with cottage cheese. It was good. Everyone keep up the good work. My first fill is Nov 13. I am already loving my new life. I love my band.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
