Will know tomorrow if UHC denies...

Recommended Posts

I will have to agree with you that UHC is NOT an easy insurance company to deal with. I lost count on how many calls I had to make. My nurse even said she didn't have time to work on my case anymore cause they were so ridiculious to work with. So with her saying that it just made me more determined to get myself approved.

After starting my first claim in March, I was finally approved in September and had my surgery on Sept. 24. It was so frustrating to say "we should know tomorrow", "it's with the nurse, they don't take calls from patients" "the dr. now has it, we should know something in 48 hrs" I bet I know all the lines you have heard.

But keep your chin up, be persistant, and get people's names when you call. That always helped when I would call back I could say, "Jim told me that I could call today and find out something" They can see on their coputer screens who you have talked to and what about.

Anyway, good luck. If you have any ?'s at all you can pm me.

I have UHC choice plus and my approval was such a breeze. So, don't quit, appeal, appeal and appeal!

Best wishes!

My surgeon's office faxed Walter & Kelly at obesitylaw.com all of the information they had including my application. I sent 15 pages to them myself today. Now I have to wait to see if they will be able to take my case (for free) ... or if I will have to pay them to file my appeal. I'm hoping I fall under the guidelines for Allergan (parent company) to pay for them to fight this appeal for me. If not, I'm fully prepared to pay them myself.

Waiting is so hard....:faint:

Congratulations! I hope it all works out for you! I have to believe that every appeal that is won will slowly chip away at the powers that be and make them realize that this surgery is valid and essential to many people! Thanks for doing your part! :(

Margie, Hon, I'm right here with ya.

I don't have UHC, but CDPHP in NY is kinda the same. I'm in your boat - been denied, appealed, and appeal was denied. I'm on second level appeal and just emailed Obesity Advocacy this morning. I do hope they can help me, too.

I'll be here cheering you on and hoping for a similar outcome. Keep fighting the good fight! :D

Just got the call today...UHC denied. I knew they probably would, but it's still a blow. Looks like I have to fight them now, but I'm up for it.

Fight em and Good Luck!

I have UHC and didn't even want to go through the BS..so I went to Mexico. I just assumed they would deny. I don't have much co-morbid problems with my BMI of 40 but we all know that carrying around that extra weight, it's just a matter of time before other problems start. They are just trying to save their money so they can give bonus' to their bigwigs. I did try to get them to pay for the fills and just got the reject notice..well, they didn't ever respond..they just posted it on the website. If they're not going to pay for something, they why do they even bother requesting the Dr.'s notes.

I work with insurance companies all the time and they are not real high on my list, lemme tell ya!

Keep up the fight. Keep us posted. I agree, every win helps those that come after us!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
