Non Scale Victories

  • Popular Post

I had surgery on 11/29 and I’m trying to not focus too much on the numbers on the scale or on my clothes.

My non scale victories since 11/29

Had to have a spacer put on my wedding ring

I’m wearing a coat I haven’t worn in 2 yrs

I got rid of my pre-surgery work uniforms

I’ve cleaned my closet twice already

What are your non scale victories?!

I parked in a tight parking space and was still able to squeeze out of my door, without touching the car next to me. In the past I would not have been able to get out of my car.

  • Sometimes NSV are the best victories! I've had quite a few in the last year but here are some: I can fit comfortably in the chairs in our conference room at work, the arms used to dig into my leg

  • etc. etc. etc.
    etc. etc. etc.

This week, my kid took off running across the park area near his after school care... and I ran after him and caught him. He was as delighted as I was. I don't think he had ever seen me run.

Hopefully bringing back this thread because I enjoyed reading through it so much! At almost 10 months out, I've lost 100 pounds and have another 20 to go! My latest non-scale victories:

-Had to get my license photo retaken at the DMV because airport security at DFW airport would not let me through as they did not believe I was the same woman on my license!

-Bought size 2 jeans

-My skin has been significantly clearer

-Can now share clothes with my 11-year-old sister ?

Hope to read about all the amazing things you guys are doing!

Best wishes to all :)

Yes do tell what happened when TSA would not let you through.

I just had a similar thing happen in Florida. When I explained that I'd had bariatric surgery, TSA let me pass.

I just explained the situation and had another photo ID in my purse to show them it really was me. We had a laugh about it after! I eventually got through, it took a while though!

Oh yeah, I had to have my picture retaken for my DL about 3 months after surgery, and now it doesn't look like me again!

Haven't heard a word about my passport photo yet.

I've claimed this one before, but I love it every time: Not needing an extender for an airline seatbelt and not even having to wonder about it!!! I know it will buckle!

The one that really hit home for me was when I bent over to dry my legs after my shower one day and my legs and ankles looked normal! I didn't have cankles anymore!! :)

That world freak me out big time!!

Have a new one... I had to take a decent work headshot for our internal IM and network. This was after replacing my badge picture two weeks ago. Two weeks ago I got questioned on my Costco card not looking at me.

Traveling in a few weeks and just had a panic moment about how much my DL or passport don’t really look a lot like me.

Yeah, turns out some victories are a real PIA!

My family and I traveled out of the country a this past summer. I looked at my passport and went into full panic mode. It looks absolutely nothing like me. I had this fear I would get stuck out the country. The young lady in customs just looked up and down and said wow you lost a lot of weight. She then advised me to get a new passport the next time I plan on leaving the country.
My team made me get a new headshot and new website content - I'm a physician, and new patients were weirded out that I looked so different from what they expected :)

First NSV - Looked at my poor bruised (blood thinner injections), scarred, and stretchmarked stomach and apron and felt sorry for them instead of angry with then for the first time. Reclaimed them as part of me rather than the disgusting traitors and have begun moisturising and looking after them along with my other overlapping and swinging bulgy bits. Accepted they'll still be there albeit deflated, so may's well be at peace with them :-)
