Non Scale Victories

  • Popular Post

I had surgery on 11/29 and I’m trying to not focus too much on the numbers on the scale or on my clothes.

My non scale victories since 11/29

Had to have a spacer put on my wedding ring

I’m wearing a coat I haven’t worn in 2 yrs

I got rid of my pre-surgery work uniforms

I’ve cleaned my closet twice already

What are your non scale victories?!

I parked in a tight parking space and was still able to squeeze out of my door, without touching the car next to me. In the past I would not have been able to get out of my car.

  • Sometimes NSV are the best victories! I've had quite a few in the last year but here are some: I can fit comfortably in the chairs in our conference room at work, the arms used to dig into my leg

  • etc. etc. etc.
    etc. etc. etc.

This week, my kid took off running across the park area near his after school care... and I ran after him and caught him. He was as delighted as I was. I don't think he had ever seen me run.

A couple NSV’s for spring!

I ran 11 miles today ?? Still working towards that 13.1, but I’m taking my time and preventing injuries along the way. I also ran a 33 minute 5k. My next goal will be to run one under 30minutes.

I’m able to run up 4 flights of stairs at work to get to bed meeting (I’m an ER nurse) and only be semi-winded. I used to dread walking up even my own stairs in my house (I seriously would avoid going upstairs at all costs) and now it doesn’t really bother me.

Still working toward the goals on the scale at 18 months out so any little NSV keeps the motivation going. ? Shout out to my slow losers, not getting to goal before 1 year post op doesn’t mean you aren’t working just as hard.

Was waiting in the parking lot to pick up the kid from school, and realized I was doing this: crossing my legs UNDER. THE. STEERING. WHEEL. !!

...I remember when my tummy and the tops of my thighs would rub up against the steering wheel when I drove...

I ordered a size 10 Levi 505 pair of jeans. When I took them out of the package and held them up I thought "there is no way these will fit, they are going to be to small" but to my surprise they not only fit but they were a touch big in the waist. What a happy surprise.
