Hmmmm... can't say as I would want anything on my face but my wrist... that's doable.

I am thinking about work though. I'd have to keep it covered 100% of the time. That's not cool.

Yeah, I see what u mean about keeping it covered. But then again, its about to get cold anyway. Wait...where are you? I'm in Virginia. What type of work do you do? Can u put in a clear stone or something like a filler during work hours?

Nope, not due to weather since I live in the desert. I am a nurse. All kinds of gross things could get in there.

Plus, I would imagine that it would go through a glove pretty easily. If you were an office worker, I'd say go for it, but since you are a nurse, I could see lots of bad things happening.

If my nails don't go through a glove that thing won't! :) But it would be up higher where a glove wouldn't cover it.

....is this a real desire-o-yer-life or just a temporary fetish symbolizing your triumph over huge odds in regaining balance and control of our shared preBandster eating disorder???

It's a temporary fetish symbolizing my triumph over huge odds. :D

I did it. I really did it.

I went to the place today with a plan of getting the anchor and stone and taking it to my Mexican doc. I knew that when he said no I'd say that was cool, I'd have the tattoo guy do it. That would have made him cringe and he would have done it.

After I saw it and he explained how it is done I knew there wasn't a chance in the world my doc would know what to do with this thing. I asked about his sterile technique, etc. and it met my standards.

I finally just said we should do it. So he did. I watched him every step of the way and it was all absolutely perfect sterile technique. Hurt like a buggar but it only hurt for about two seconds, twice.

It doesn't look very nice now but in a few days it will have healed and be fine.

Not sure if I'm going to like it or not. The problem is that right now there is a temp stone for healing and it isn't the most attractive stone I would have chosen. It's a bit like those old newbie pierced earrings. It's just for the healing phase and then I can start buying prettier (yet tiny) stones. I can change the color daily if I want to match my rings. Just unscrew the stone and screw in a new one.

The anchor is about the size of a thin piece of rice. The stone is about 3mm long. He used an 11g needle (that's similar to a garden hose for those that don't know), dug a hole for each end of the anchor and popped it in. Took less than a minute. It took him longer to prep the area and bandage it than it did to do the procedure.

I called a friend and told her what I did. She was floored, couldn't believe ME of all people would do such a thing. I'm about as conservative as they come. I mean, I let my ears grow back after a double piercing, it was too much! HA! So I have single holes in my ears. So for me this is very out of the ordinary which is what I want.

I've hidden from the world for too long and I don't have to do it anymore.

Besides, if I end up not liking this thing it takes about 10 seconds to remove and I'm back to where I started. So I guess it wasn't tooooo daring. :car:

When it heals I'll take a photo and post it. It's kind of yucky now, but when it's healed I'll take a photo.

I do believe when it's time to change the stone for the first time I'll let him do it. He said it's no different from changing an earring, easier even. While that may be true I will let him do it so I can see how he does it.

If you guys knew how conservative I am about this stuff you would see how huge this is for me, a major change in my "usual" personality. :)

It's a flatter type stone, it's almost flush with my skin. It's the size of a small mole.

Okay, so I saw this cool piercing on the news yesterday and although I am about as conservative as they come, THIS one I could do. I am trying to find something fun to do to Celebrate my weight loss.

Check it out:

Sage's Urban Art Tattoo and Piercing

Then go to "Piercing" then click "enter" then go down the page to "Dermal Anchors" and it's the 6th one from the left.

I could buy the item and have a doc implant the anchor under my skin. I could have my jeweler make a real top part that is an actual gem stone.

It would end up looking like a diamond or Tanzanite is glued to my wrist. It's like a pierced earring only the anchor is under my skin on top of my wrist.

What do you think? I saw the tattoo guy doing it on the news, took about 3 minutes or less.

I don't want a tattoo place doing it, I want a real doc doing it. :car:

I'm not doing anything without running it by "TheFox" (member) because I am wayyy out of my league on this one. Poor girl, I've sent her at least a gazillion PMs tonight with links asking questions. :)

Thoughts?

That would be cool. I'm conservative and only have my ears pierced double. I don't care for tattoos (what are they going to look like when you are 60 or 70???) I am not for anything that permanently disfigures me, but this would be sort of subtle.

I can't see the pics, but - good for you! Nothing makes us feel quite as good as reversible impetuousness! :D

I used to have many more piercings than I do now. Now it's just the ears double, but I used to also have the cartilage, eyebrow, lip, and nose.

I wouldn't mind having the nose redone some day, with the teeniest tiniest little gold ball. Nothing like the hook I used to wear.

I just have to convince myself that the pain is worth it.

WOW! Those are really interesting! I can't say that I would do it, I didn't do well with my perciecing. I had meat hanging out of the top of my ear for months!

I am a tattoo girl, I have mine all planned out in my head, I need to find someone to draw it! :D

Good luck WasA!

I'm way too anal for a tattoo. I'm not opposed to them by any means, I'm just too much of a perfectionist. It would never be perfect enough. THere would always be a line that glitched or a color that didn't look the way I wanted. I can't even commit to a wall color for my living room, let alone something that I have to trust someone else to put on my body.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
