Sleeve revised to switch. No weight loss

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done five years ago. I got pregnant eight months after. I lost 88 pounds from the sleeve and gain to 60 back. November 14, 2017 I had the single anastomoses duodenal switch. I lost 14 pounds the first two weeks and have not lost but have gained 1 pound in the last two weeks. For those of you out there that I’ve had this done has it been successful for you? Is the weight-loss slow and steady? Can you share some of your experiences

I am 5 yrs post op sleeve, and 3 mons post op SIPS. I am loosing really slow in pounds, but inches are coming off. I was around 282 on day of surgery, and now I am bouncing between 263-267. Been fluctuating like this forever it seems. Although both my bariatric team and my nut are happy with my progress.

You're more than welcome. From what I have read and heard from a lot of revision people, their loss and is slow, but it does come off.

I had my surgery the same day as you. I’ve lost 25 pounds, but I was really sick with the flu for 3 weeks a month later. I’m still really tired all the time. Was wondering if you have any pain. My right side stays sore all the time, sometimes after I eat the pain is stabbing. It never goes away completely. I think my w/l has stopped, not sure, I don’t own a scale. My dr wants me to only weigh at his office, and concentrate only on my nutrition.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
