Have date but still waiting for approval

Recommended Posts

So, I'm scheduled for surgery next week, December 14th, but I'm still waiting for insurance to approve. All of my paperwork was sent on December 1st. I CANNOT take the wait. I try so hard not to think about it but it is CONSUMING me :48_weary::48_weary:

My doctor’s office would not even schedule me until insurance approved. I’m trying to stay busy and not think about it!!

I wish they would have waited for the approval before giving me a date. [emoji30][emoji30] I’m just praying insurance gets back to us before the 14th so that I don’t have to reschedule.

I'm nowhere near this stage yet. However, I've seen people say that they've reached out to their insurance (called them) to see if they were approved. Have you tried calling your insurance? Good luck!

I'm still near the beginning. I've done 2 out of 7 of my nutrition appointments required by my insurance. Aside from that I have done an abdominal ultrasound and a sleep study. Next month I have to do my 3 month check in with my surgeon's office and a psych eval. And that is insane that they don't have an answer for you already. Hopefully they will fax your approval papers over before your surgery date

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
