Dec 29 is the start of a new me!

Congratulations! Just in time to make that New Years resolution come true for real! You will do fine. Start walking now if you haven't already. I was up and walking for 15-20 minutes about 2 hours after surgery with no pain (other than gas pains). Don't worry about working out right now. Walking is fine. Your doctor might want you to stay away from any serious workouts for 6-8 weeks.

Before surgery, get any cleaning, laundry, etc. out of the way. You won't feel like doing it for at least the first week after. Also take care of your post-op grocery shopping, stock your fridge with Water, g2, propel, Vitamin water, etc. so you don't have to worry about that. Get you some chewable vitamins as some can't swallow regular ones for at least the first week or so. Get you some good content to watch on tv. I binge watched several series on Netflix. It was awesome!

Oh yeah, if you drink any caffeinated drinks, drop them now. You don't want to be going through withdrawals after surgery. The headaches suck big time.

Anyway, good luck!

Omg thank you so much for the info. I walking a lot everyday already so I’m good there. I only do coffee and I only drink it when I really need it. So to let that go shouldn’t be a problem. I already started purchasing everything I need after surgery [emoji16]
How do u feel about the vitamin patches? I was thinking about getting them

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
