What is your favorite part of weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Ever wonder what will be the best part that made you feel great about your weight loss?

For me, it felt great when I was able to tie my shoes without a struggle lol.

And recently when you actually can see your hip bones after every workout

What’s yours?

I love being able to buy clothes and feel good about how I look in them. Instead of always being disappointed!

1) the way I feel. No more inflammation in my joints, I feel comfortable in any thing I wear, I can tie my shoes without holding my breath..lol

2) the way I look, my confidence has come back, I make more eye contact during conversations and command respect.

3) my sex life...It been a while since I got my wife to climax in any other position other than her on top, but now I dont crush her as much I suppose and she gets multiple orgasms now from all different positions..Plus she seems more into me now..

4) the attention and flirting from the opposite sex (sometimes the same sex..lol) I must admit it feels good and its more noticeable to see these younger women flirting with me or looking at me in the gym or when Im out. I catch them sneaking peaks all the time now...Yeah boy!!! Feels nice to be noticed..

5) clothes shopping and dressing sharp, its so much more easy to find decent and stylish clothes in my size now..Not many modern brand names make a size 46 wiast and 2 xl shirt...Plus I look great in slim fit everything now!!

6) the fact that I have potentially increased my life span and reduced the probability of me getting ill in the near future.

Confidence. Knowing I look pretty good. Dressing more glamorous. I love how people react to me.

I’m only 7 weeks post op so I haven’t fealt the full benefit of the weight loss yet. I did put up the tree with the family the other day and was amazed at how much easier it was to get up and down off the floor at my current 258lbs than it was at the330lbs that I started my journey at. I was up and down at least 8 times crawling under the tree for various reasons when all of the sudden it struck me that I wasn’t struggling or grunting and groaning every time I moved like I used to.

Being able to interact with my kids better and chase them down much easier.

Being able to purchase clothing anywhere and not having to pay an upcharge for a plus size.

People's reaction when I tell them how much weight I've loss :)

My perks from weight loss:

The girls look better. My boobs no longer rest on the shelf of my belly . I have visible collar bones.

I discovered I'm an adrenaline junkie. It gives me a high when younger people under estimate my running ability. I turn into a competitive bad ass when they step up to race me on the treadmill /the track at my gym. Game on!

I'm usually dressed down in jeans and fitness gear. At work appropriate for the situation. I love to dress a bit on the sexy side for date nights.

I went to a job interview yesterday and the place had tons of stairs. I climbed them all without being in pain or out of breath.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
