Thought I would ask what is most helpful in this journey right now. Hopefully, I can find some insight!

It changes every week for me, It seems, but lately I have been having a slice of toast with p. butter in the AM...this takes me quite some time to eat and has a lot less calories than the oatmeal and the milk. I started losing again..yipeee...

;)

Exercise.

There are lots of reasons for overeating that might be out of our control but not exercising is from lazy behaviors. If someone can't run then walk. If they can't walk then chair exercises.

It isn't a type of food specifically, it's a lifestyle change. A quality diet and exercise are what it takes to lose weight well.

Honestly, what helps me is having decent restriction. It makes it very uncomfortable to eat the foods that I would usually crave (pizza, bread, etc.), so I don't even want to eat them anymore.

Bubblebut, I have to disagree about the "lazy" behaviors. There are many disabilities/ailments that can make exercise tough. I have a herniated disc in my neck and two bad knees. Even chair exercises would put a strain on both my knees and upper body, but I am trying to find a Water aerobics program in my area.

I agree with wasa, chicke and jachut - exercise, exercise and more exercise!

Also, I keep 'problem' foods out of my house (chips primarily)

The fear of failure and giving someone the pleasure of being able to talk about how I had this surgery and still didnt lose weight. I know I shouldnt really care what other people think, but I do.

Writing down what I eat helps me. Not drinking coffee with cream. I'll just have tea instead.

Also exercise like you life depends on it. Oh, wait, it does!

Aloha

For me it would be having my DSW having the band also and going to the gym with me at 5:00am 5-6 days a week. Cooking and eating the right types of food. Just seeing the success that she is having, the motivation that I get from her is the greatest. Oh one more thing, loosing 76 Lbs. and getting off my HB & Diabetes Meds has helped a lot also.

Good Luck and Aloha

Well, that was kinda my point. If you can't do one thing then do another.

Speaking for myself ONLY I had no problem at one time getting my bubble butt to the kitchen for food but to move otherwise, it just didn't happen. If you can't do one thing then find another.

Right now I have a specific goal in mind. Unfortunately, my twin pregnancy and vaginal birth destroyed my bladder...My obgyn said there would be no surgery to repair it until I reached about 255...So, I have my appt. on November 13 and am working hard to reach that goal weight by then. I'm 272, so it is going to be a stretch, but I am trying...Either way, I'll have lost about 80lbs... Praying this surgery happens quickly and takes care of my issues...

So, that's what's working for me...the desire to be able to go in that office and request a repair asap!!!

I hope you can find a good Water aerobics facility, have you tried ask around maybe contact physical theripists in your area. Water really helps take the pressure off of your body and it is really good exercise. I hope it doesn't hurt your neck. I really do hope you find one that is not expensive. Hey, atleast your heart is in the right place (wanting to exercise!) Once the weight starts comming off it may be alot easier for you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
